Runways
Kolobe's  two intersecting grass runways are nestled between the koppies of "Beentjieskraal" and the remains of the indigenous people's Cattle kraals are clearly visible from above.

The Klerksdorp dam area provides for some of the most beautiful sunsets in the area with the the Koppies at Hartebeestfontein providing the perfect backdrop.

Kolobe utilizes the Klerksdorp Airfield frequency of 123.5 and visitors must call 10nm out. Follow normal rules of the air and avoid over flying houses and chicken farms in the area. Unless absolutely necessary, avoid using runway 05 as final approach is directly over a neighboring house.

Main Runway headings are:

  • 05 - 23 (grass) 600 meters
  • 11 - 29 (grass) 500 meters

Lying between the Koppies, landings can be tricky in windy conditions and therefore a secondary emergency landing strip is available 1 mile to the North West of Kolobe if conditions between the koppies become marginal due to wind.

A further landing strip on the neighboring farm is available in case of emergencies. It runs parallel to 05 - 23 and is situated 1 mile to the East of the main runway.

Hangarage:

A second hangar for six trikes is being planned and should be completed by the end of September 2003. Secure parking and to down is available to visiting pilots
